Music at the ISK
Music plays a very important role in the life of the school. Every week students take part in a musical performance which we call “the recital” in “The Well”. Here the students get a chance to demonstrate their musical talents in front of an enthusiastic large school audience.
As well as the regular weekly performances there is also a large annual school concert where our talented students in the Junior & Senior cycle put on shows that are open to the public and run over two nights. Recent musicals have included ‘Grease’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
Traditional Music also plays a very strong part in school life and there is a Trad Group which has a great part in promoting the enjoyment of Irish music.
At school all First Year students study music, after which it becomes an option student. Some students decide to attend private music lessons in the school in piano, flute, guitar, mandolin and drums. Elizabeth Brosnan, Donal Moroney and Abel Benito can be contacted for further information.
